Two Way Radio Use

To Call Out:

Press the ‘Call’ Button to send out 1 call tone.

Wait 4 to 5 seconds.

Press and hold the PTT button and clearly say the person’s name.  Using the person’s first and last name helps identify who you are wanting to contact.

Receiving a Call:

Wait until the person is done talking. Press and hold the PTT button and clearly respond to the person calling.  Hold the PTT button until you are done speaking.  This helps insure your signal is not cutting out as you speak.

Speaking clearly, at a moderate rate, with the mic about 3 to 4 inches from your mouth lowers voice distortion.

Emergency button (equipped radios)-orange button on the top of the radio by the channel selector.  Use only for situations requiring immediate help or a safety situation.  Examples: medical emergency or fire.
