All the new quote requests are forwarded to a designated email account, estimating@goodsmillwork.com, either by the customers requesting the quote, or our sales team, if the customer sends his new request to them. The sales team will usually keep a copy of that email account open besides their personal email account. That email is used only for that purpose, to hold the requests in the sequence they came in. We want our customers to send new quote requests there that no one has had anything to do with yet. ALWAYS click on the refresh button when going to that account to refresh any changes that might have taken place that are not showing up yet. If you do not refresh, you might end up taking a request that someone else may be working on already, but still be showing as starred and unread because the email on your computer does not always refresh when someone else makes a change to it. When new requests come in, they will be marked as un-read. Before opening any un-read emails, click on the star to make it yellow. The reason for that is to take one more precaution against it dropping off the radar unintentionally. As soon as you click on an un-read email, it will automatically be marked as read when you close it, unless you specifically mark it as un-read when you’re done, which will also then close the email. Sometimes you will see red stars. Those take priority, as someone said they need it real badly. If you ever see several emails with the same color star other than yellow or red, that means those go together. Likely the customer sent more information later. The first sales person available will send it to himself, un-star the email in the estimating account, and work on it from there. Never send an email to a customer from that email.
- Go to the estimating@goodsmillwork account.
- Click the re-fresh button. It looks like this.

- Click on the email on the bottom of the list. That one was waiting the longest. Get an overview of the project by reading the request & looking at all the attachments, if any.
- If it requires experience beyond what you’re comfortable with, go to the top right hand corner of the email, click the little menu arrow beside the reply button, & select “Mark As Unread”, and leave it for someone else. (Beware, you will not always be allowed to pick the cream off the top!)

- Forward it to your own email.
- Un-star it with 1 left click on the yellow star.

- Immediately click the re-fresh button again so no one else gets it. Now it should be off the list.
- Switch to your own email account by clicking the tab on your internet browser.

- Find the email, and then star it.
- Open the email.
- Print the email body and all attachments.
- Read all the details to the request to get a “feel, or mental image” of the project.
- Go to http://concept.goodsmillwork.com/MyHome & log in.
